Nordic SkiingYou can cross country ski right out our backdoor. In the winter the Dos Rios Golf Course transforms into a loop trail for winter enthusiasts. It is great if you want to get out and enjoy the crisp air. You can bring your own gear or rent from Gene Taylor's Sporting Goods in town. Other great places around town to cross country ski are Hartman Rocks, or if you have small kids take them to Western State College. At Western State College, there is a groomed circle course around a football sized field. If you're looking for a longer excursion, try Cement Creek or Mill Creek, both north of town. If you venture as far as Crested Butte, check out the map from the Crested Butte Nordic Center and exploit the numerous trails of all difficulties. One way or another, this is a great place to begin your Nordic adventure whether it is for the first time or times beyond counting.
