Fly Fishing:
Rising early to fly fish some of the most diverse waters in southwestern Colorado and grill the rainbow trout later that evening.
Reservoirs:
~Blue Mesa Reservoir:
15 miles west of Gunnison. Largest body of H2O in Colorado where Brown, Rainbow & Lake Trout, Kokanee & Yellow Perch abound.
~Taylor Reservoir:
NE of Almont on HWY 742.
Look for Lake Trout, Kokanee & Browns.
Rivers:
~Taylor River:
East River (starts @ Crested Butte to Almont)
Gunnison River ( Taylor merges with East to form the Gunnison)

Don Walker - who's fished the reservoir since it opened more than 40 years ago - landed a new state record mackinaw, or lake trout, May 23 on the lake; and Larry Cornell, who was nearby when Walker caught the monster fish, held the previous record, set in 2002.
Walker's fish tipped the scales at 50.35 pounds, measured 44 1/4 inches in length with 34 3/8-inch girth. That beat Cornell's record by about 3 1/2 pounds.
