Heritage Museum are collaborating on this evening to bring the community Dr. Duane Vandenbusche to speak on his most recent book "The Black Canyon of the Gunnison." This talk will be at the Crested Butte Library.
Books will be available to purchase for the author to personally sign. Dr. Vandenbusche will entertain you with stories of the contents of the book as well as what he did to write the book.

Location: Center for the Arts Crested ButteCenter for the Arts Crested Butte is extremely pleased to bring back Aspen Santa Fe Ballet. Heading into a second decade of activity, the success of the ASFB is cause for celebration. ASFB is a uniquely structured and multi-faceted organization, founded in 1990 by longtime Aspenite Bebe Schweppe. It not only is a nationally recognized dance company, a leader in the dance world in terms of repertoire, acquiring and commissioning work from top choreographers; but it is also one of the largest dance presenters in the country, welcoming the best in dance in both Aspen and Santa Fe.
Education is important to ASFB, and they will generously present a matinee on March 10 specifically for the elementary division of the Crested Butte Community School.

Little did we know this fundraiser would be such a big success. Center for the Arts Crested Butte is delighted to bring this show to Crested Butte once again on March 12 and 13, 2010 with a different line-up of films each night.
14th Annual Extreme Telemark Freeskiing Championships
Time/Dates: Thursday, March 18, 2010 08:00 A.M. to 04:00 P.M.
Location: Crested Butte Mountain Resort
Over 100 free-heelers take to the slopes to compete in this Telemark Freeskiing event complete with welcome reception and awards party. The two-day big mountain event attracts the biggest names in the Telemark industry and is unique to Crested Butte. Free Telemark demos and specialty clinics also take place during this Telemark celebration culminating with the legendary Al Johnson race.

Al Johnson Uphill/Downhill Ski Race

Location: Crested Butte Mountain Resort
A popular local telemark race named after a diehard 19th century Crested Butte mailman who delivered mail to remote mining camps. Hundreds of costumed participants ascend 600 vertical feet to the crest of the North Face, and then race down the double black diamond terrain to the finish.

The only public viewing site for Gunnison Sage-grouse is the Waunita Lek Watchable Wildlife Site located approximately 19 miles east of Gunnison, Colorado.
